Mishkah · مشكاة

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Mishkah collects nothing about you and nothing about what you read. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising. A few things do leave your device, and this policy names every one of them.

What we collect

Nothing about you, and nothing about what you read. There are no accounts, no analytics and no tracking, and your location never reaches us. If you turn announcements on, we keep what is needed to send them, and nothing more; see below.

What stays on your device

Deleting the app deletes all of it.

What leaves your device

Your coordinates, to Apple. Once you grant location, Mishkah asks Apple's geocoding service to turn your coordinates into a city name, so the app can show "Riyadh" rather than a pair of numbers. The app does this when it opens, and the prayer widgets do it when you have moved, so the times follow you. Those coordinates go to Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. They do not come to us.

If you would rather this never happened, do not grant location. Mishkah then uses Makkah as its default and remains fully functional.

Announcements, only if you turn them on. Announcements are off until you switch them on in Settings. While they are on, our server keeps this device's notification token, the language you read in, your time zone and the app's version, so that an announcement can reach you, in your language, at the right time of your day. Turning announcements off deletes them from the server.

What the app downloads

Mishkah's content — the Qur'an, the adhkar, the daily ayah — is built into the app and needs no connection. Two small downloads happen on their own, and a third only when you ask for it:

Both are downloads, never uploads: the requests carry no identifier and nothing about you or what you read, and the files are the same for everybody.

Our server and our website both run on Cloudflare.

Third parties

Mishkah contains no advertising, analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDK, and we share nothing with anyone. Its only external components are two open-source libraries that run entirely on your device and have no network access: GRDB (a local database) and adhan-swift (prayer-time calculation). The services it relies on are Apple's, for city names and notifications, and Cloudflare's, which runs our server and website; recitations come from the Islamic Network's audio service, as above.

Tracking

Mishkah does not track you across apps or websites, and does not ask for permission to do so.

Children

Mishkah is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It asks no one for personal information, children included.

Content

The Qur'anic text is Tanzil's Uthmani edition, used verbatim. Translations are by the Rowwad Translation Center. The mushaf typefaces are the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex's, redistributed unmodified under their licence. Adhkar are from Hisn al-Muslim. Full attributions are inside the app.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date above changes with it.

The card download was added on 16 September 2026, and the version check on 3 October 2026. On 6 October 2026 this policy was corrected: earlier versions said we have no server and that only one thing leaves your device, and did not describe the widgets' location lookups.
